It’s no secret that President Obama has been out to curtail gun and ammo sales in the United States since he took office in 2008. Trying to advance his agenda on this issue has been tough sledding, though, in spite of his attempts to prey on emotions of Americans after tragedies, like a used car salesmen praying on a naive, young 16 year old driver in the car lot. Thankfully, no deals have closed; and the Second Amendment has remained stoic in our country. Citizens should never forget how the Second Amendment played a huge role in creating the world’s biggest superpower for the last century! So what does a President “fundamentally” trying to change America do when he can’t appeal to the masses to get his way? He tries to pull the wool over our eyes by creating a public anti-gun campaign while, behind the scenes, acting with a few other high ranking officials to create an oligarchy bent on first ruling then destroying the ammunition for our firearms.
The purchase of ammunition by the Department of Homeland Security and similar government entities buying ammunition is perfectly normal these days, even though the amounts bought can be somewhat eye popping as of late. What should raise red flags, however, is the volume of ammunition purchases by other government bodies in recent years:
- Social Security Administration- 174,000 rounds of ammunition
- Department of Agriculture- 320,000 rounds of ammunition
- NOAH (Nat’l Oceanic and Atmospheric Admin.)- 46,000 rounds (2012), 72,000 rounds (2013)
While those numbers – and their purchasers – are astonishing enough, I am alarmed when I found out who now wants to partake in the ammunition free-for-all: the USPS (United States Postal Service)
The amount is unspecified, but the message courtesy of USPS website states: “The United States Postal Service intends to solicit proposals for assorted small arms ammunition.” I find it interesting that they can afford ammunition when they had a $1.9 billion second quarter loss recorded. Chalk it up to another government program run amuck financially. I’m not into conspiracy theories, but the amount of ammunition purchases by the government in Obama’s six years is jaw dropping. In our founders’ eyes, the U.S Marshals were supposed to be the armed branch of government… not the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration! This might help us get a glimpse of why there has been an increasingly glaring shortage of ammunition in the United States, making bullets hard to find and costs on the rise.
Meanwhile, the EPA has also been doing its part to back up Obama by increasing regulations 10 fold, forcing the nation’s last lead smelting plant to either pay $100 million to comply with new regulations or close. The plant, based in Herculaneum, Mo., closed on December 31st, 2013, unable to weather the massive economic storm of new EPA regulations.
The media stands by and turns a blind eye to this issue surrounding the Second Amendment, knowing full well the chord it strikes in our nation’s culture. We need to be more aware of government activities and hold their feet to the fire when they try to go behind our backs and, as Obama would say, “fundamentally transform” America. Founding father Sam Adams summed it up best when he said “The constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens form keeping their own arms.”
To maintain what’s left of our liberty, we must have and keep our own arms… and our own ammunition.
