Arrest Made In Vicious, Racially Charged Black-On-White ‘Revenge’ Beating of Retired U.S. Marine…Not A Hate Crime?

One suspect has reportedly been arrested in the brutal beating of a retired Marine in West Point, Mississippi. Some believe that the black mob attacked 32 year-old Ralph Weems as “revenge” for the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

According to a report on, the police chief who announced the arrest of the suspect claimed the life-threatening injuries to the former Marine were not the result of a black-on-white hate crime.

Courtez McMilliam, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault late Monday. Though Brinkley said in a press release that the attack doesn’t appear to be a hate crime, an eyewitness account suggests race may have played a role in the attack. The first suspect arrested in connection to the beating is a black man; Weems is white.

David Knighten, an Air Force veteran of the Afghanistan War who was with Weems during the attack, recalled “racial slurs” being shouted during the beating. Further, he said a man politely told him outside a Waffle House that the restaurant wasn’t a safe place for whites as people were angry over the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

In an earlier report on, speculation was raised that the mob attack was directly related to the racial unrest in Ferguson.

Police are investigating a brutal beating at a Mississippi restaurant that some are calling revenge for the killing of black teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

A verbal alternation between two white men and up to seven black men began at a West Point, Mississippi, Waffle House shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

The restaurant’s management warned the two groups to “take it outside” and the two whites, Ralph Weems and David Knighten, left the scene after words were exchanged. About an hour later, the men stopped at a Huddle House restaurant and realized they had been followed by “about 20 people,” according to a local TV station. The verbal confrontation resumed and, this time, it turned violent.

In announcing the arrest in the case, West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley said it will ultimately be up to a jury to decide if a hate crime was committed. Meantime, the beating victim remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma.

  1. There will be more reports of non racial violence in the coming months, with Rev. AL and obummer backing their "plays", just like the knockout game. I wouldn't take it as a game if attacked. Hopefully many others will not stand by and let it happen. More racial unrest under this dictator than in the last 100 yrs.

  2. And where are Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and Eric Holder? And when is the president going to make a statement about this incident on national television?
