As Barack Obama’s socialist policies destroy our economy and his lawless wars put American lives at risk, Congress is sitting on its thumbs and doing nothing. This is a major betrayal of every American who voted to put them into office — but it is the way of Washington: debate, give speeches, talk a good game, then compromise with you friends across the aisle and go hit the golf course or the nearest high-priced watering hole together and laugh at the little people back home. Some patriots are doing their job and pushing the Beltway crowd to do something. They are telling their “leaders”: Listen, we elected you, and you follow our will or we will put you on the street! They are active members in Impeach Obama citizen activism. This is the latest example: The (Springfield, Illinois) State Journal-Register printed a letter from Anthony Marconi asking why Congress is not impeaching Obama for his war-by-decree in Libya:
I find it odd that the president of the United States has willfully broken a law and no impeachment proceedings have been started. President Barack Obama is over the 60-day mark for use of unauthorized military action as set down in the war powers act and yet Congress has taken no action.
Oh wait! He’s a Democrat! Why do I have the feeling that if President George W. Bush had done something similar, he wouldn’t have gotten a day past the limit before the proceedings were started? What are the Republicans waiting for? This is a deliberate slap in the face of Congress, yet they seem reluctant to do anything about it. Makes me wonder.
— Anthony J. Marconi, Springfield
If we are going to get anything done, we have to begin with letters like this that win the hearts and minds of our fellow citizens — and put our elected leaders on notice. If you write one, send us the link!
