America Is Down, But Don’t Count Her Out Just Yet

I remember very well, when I was in high school, scenes of Iranian hostages being paraded every night on the national news.  There was no right-leaning media back then, so we unwittingly took everything the major networks said for granted.  The country was depressed.  Gas prices were through the roof; Jimmy Carter was wearing cardigans and giving fireside chats, blaming the American people for the problems he created. Iran was dragging the bodies of American special forces through the streets from the failed hostage rescue mission. And, Soviet tanks were rolling through Afghanistan. America was finished, the world press crowed, caput, finito. We had lost Vietnam, and Nixon took us off the gold standard and was almost impeached for being a criminal. Americans felt yet once again the full consequence of our progressive friends’ way of governing from the left.

Carter had the gall to say it was the people’s fault, not his poor leadership or stupid policies.  “The threat is nearly invisible in ordinary ways. It is a crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for our nation.  The erosion of our confidence in the future is threatening to destroy the social and the political fabric of America,” he had the nerve to say on a broadcast to the nation.

Anyone feeling a sense of Deja vu?

Then, out-of-the-blue, I was studying one day at home with the television on; and I heard this quote that shocked me out of my depressed state: “I am paying for this microphone, Mr. Green!”  And just like that, Ronald Reagan was on the scene, leading the cavalry to our rescue from the liberal doldrums.

I have to believe there is another Ronald Reagan out there somewhere. There is a leader amongst us who can stand up to this corrupt, criminal enterprise we have in the White House.  Someone who can lead us back to what America always has stood for, what our Founders believed and fought for, and what millions of Americans have died for.

There was a reason people lined the streets across the country to salute Reagan’s body as the hearse drove by on its way to California to his final resting place.  I hate to say it, but I don’t believe the same outpouring of love will happen for our liberal leaders.

Bill Clinton was smart enough to move to the center when he lost Congress in 1994.  Our current Dear Leader doesn’t care about the Democratic Party’s hold on power in the future.  He cares about enacting his agenda, before he leaves office, that will further undermine our country’s foundation.

America, at its core, is a center-right country.  The people still believe in hard work, balancing the budget, self-reliance, and strong defense.  We long suffering conservatives just need to find the right leader to articulate our views and get us out of this hole the Left has dug.

I know he or she is out there somewhere.
