In a recent Fox News interview, former Florida Rep. Allen West sounded off on Barack Obama’s recent campaigning in Colorado and Texas. Noting that he seems more interested in posing for photos than dealing with the ongoing border crisis, West wondered how a similar situation would be handled in the press under a GOP president.
“Imagine if this was a Republican president who was going to a Democrat state where a Democrat governor was asking [him] to come and take a look at this emergency and this crisis,” he said, “and the Republican president said, ‘Ah, I’ve got these fundraisers to do and I’ve got a handle on this thing. I don’t need to go down and take a look at this border situation.’ The media would be going apoplectic.”
He went on to describe the “hypocrisy” of a pro-Obama mainstream media, explaining that the current regime is well aware of the advantage it has in that regard.
According to West, there is a “different standard for the Obama administration – for President Obama himself. He knows that; he’s going to take advantage of that in every shape, form and fashion.”
This sycophantic media culture, he suggested, emboldens Obama to embrace superficial pursuits while ignoring legitimate issues.
“It just shows where his priorities are,” he said. “His priorities are not securing the sovereignty of the United States of America. His priorities are about his own ideological agenda and going out there and being popular as we just saw the pictures of him hooting it up in some bar in Colorado.”
While in that state, which recently legalized recreational marijuana use, one resident offered Obama – who has been open about his past drug use – a toke.
“We have a president that would rather go out and throw down beers and get offered a hit from a doobie and go to fundraisers,” West concluded.
