After Feds Stripped Redskins Of Their Name, Fans Fired Right Back With These Hilarious New Names

This week, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office revoked the Washington Redskins’ trademark claim. This decision has not only upset fans but has brought into question the history behind the name. Originally, the word ‘Redskin’ honored Native Americans who distinguished themselves with body and face paint.

The football franchise is now victim of a disturbing era of political correctness that has infiltrated Washington.

The decision could be a bad omen for other professional franchises with controversial nicknames. Notable examples include the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Blackhawks, and Kansas City Chiefs.

On the amateur level, there are over 60 public high schools that still use the “Redskins” mascot.

The Twittersphere has exploded with the hashtag, #NewRedskinsName. Tweeters from across the nation pitched ideas, and we’ve selected our favorites from today.

Show your creativity and help Washington by commenting your favorites.
