Few lawmakers – even among those occupying the far left wing of the Democrat Party – are more outspoken about their desire to see more dead babies than House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
In return for her outspoken support of abortion, the self-professed Catholic has repeatedly faced legitimate backlash from religious leaders. Just last month, Vatican Chief Justice Cardinal Raymond Burke made his latest call to prevent Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion.
Among those who share her murderous proclivity, however, she remains a heroic figure. This week, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America reported the 73-year-old Democrat was selected as its latest Margaret Sanger Award recipient.
Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, famously supported a radical racist policy of using birth control to eradicate minorities and other segments of the population she deemed undesirable. She also supported the unthinkable idea that large families should murder their own infants for the good of society.
“We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population,” she wrote in 1922, explaining a decade later that “[b]irth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.”
Her despicable ideology also included the notion that women “shall not have the legal right to bear a child, and no man shall have the right to become a father, without a permit,” suggesting that such permits would only be valid for one birth per couple.
The fact that, at the end of the day, she was responsible for establishing the largest abortion provider in history means leftists give her a complete pass for the hate-filled roots of her mission.
Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards now calls the annual award that bears Sangers’ name the organization’s “highest recognition of leadership, excellence, and outstanding contributions to the reproductive health and rights movement.”
Of course, Sanger was decidedly not interested in reproductive rights, favoring instead a policy similar to China’s highly restrictive birth laws. None of these facts matter, however, among those whose only concern is ensuring abortion strips the basic right to life from countless more Americans.
Pelosi, who last year called late-term abortion “sacred ground” according to her skewed idea of the Catholic faith, is indeed a deserving recipient of such a dubious award.
