Nathan Steffel’s daughter Sophia, was born with liver disease and had a very small chance for survival.
Miraculously, Steffel was able to have six weeks with his newborn daughter. Yet, the entire time, he could only see his beautiful daughter with the ugly medical tubes attached to her.
In his grief, he reached out to Reddit, asking:
“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?
What happened next will touch your heart: people, strangers from all over the world responded, some offering words of encouragement and support, while others worked and managed to send back these adorable images of 6-week-old Sophia:
Steffel was blown away from what he received.
“I never expected to get the response I did from Reddit,” Steffel told ABC News. “This story just goes to show how awesome people can be.”
“I’m overwhelmed with joy that this story could touch so many people,” Steffel continued. “Me and my wife were fortunate to spend so much time with her as some parents do not even get the chance.”
It is truly amazing to see how people can come together during a tragedy and help a grieving couple. Hopefully, these pictures can help the Steffels hold on to the memory of their beautiful baby daughter.
