A Letter To Ann Coulter Regarding Her Support Of “Conservative” Romney

Ann Coulter SC A Letter To Ann Coulter Regarding Her Support Of Conservative Romney

“Dear Ann,

In the past, you have been our warrior princess of conservatism. It’s what drew millions of us to fall in love with you so many years ago….ah young love…(sigh)….where was I? OH YES! I must admit it has been mostly a long and blissful marriage dear Ann. Listening to your sweet sarcastic voice on the evening programs, cuddling in front of the fireplace with your latest book excoriating the ethically vacuous left, fighting the good fight together (you the Ann of Arc up there swinging your sword at all comers and us adulating grunts doing our best to let political blood in the trenches and buying your latest war bond for the cause.) I’m afraid, however, that we have hit a very rocky place and have somehow…how do I say this? We’ve well… “grown apart.” You see Ann, my stance for protecting the life of every unborn person is not contingent upon political winds. I’m not saying you no longer care Ann, but pragmatism is often the bane of honor.

Sadly, in your willingness to buy into the push poll induced delirium that Mitt Romney can somehow inspire voters and defeat Obama, with nothing more than simultaneously appearing to be “moderate” to moderates and “conservative” to conservatives, you have now traded your own stellar pro-life credentials to falsify Mitt’s at the expense of your credibility. So now, dear Ann, due to this and recent “progressive” dalliances, I must set you free to find your own happiness (wipes tear). In the spirit of Ronaldus Magnus, “You left me Ann, I didn’t leave you.” It sure was great while it lasted.” – John Q Republic

Humor aside, Ann no doubt shares the legitimate concern of many over the threat Obama is to individual liberty and has every right to calculate whom she believes is the best candidate to stem the Alinsky tide (despite Romney’s record). I respect that, of course. However, by having this sordid love affair with the so called “pro-life” aspect of Mitt Romney’s campaign, she is subjugating the principle of protecting the unborn to a tactical political expediency with nothing more than the “hope” it turns out well. This became rather apparent when Coulter sought to assuage her fears by saying to Romney, point blank:

“You owe me and you better be as right-wing a president as I’m telling everybody you’re going to be.”

Note: Romney’s response was apparently as tepid as Coulter’s confidence since she was unable to remember or was unwilling to share the content of his response “or words to that effect.”

Now one may think that I’m judging Romney on his positions prior to his “Road to Damascus” experience. Not so. His utterly abysmal record prior to a November 2004 meeting with a Harvard stem cell researcher, which he later referred to as the moment of his epiphany, is well known. Yet, his post epiphany actions (speaking louder than his words) are erratic at best.

Post Nov ’04, it is clear that Romney began pivoting to the right from his staunch pro-abortion position. This cannot be denied. Was it evidence of an awakening? Or was it all just preparations for 08′? To sensibly judge if he is truly pro-life, one must judge him for his known actions (not just his words) from the moment of his claimed conversion. While “progressively” speaking pro-life words from November ’04 forward as Governor and vetoing an embryonic stem cell research bill (worthy of note), he nevertheless vacillated. While Mitt did veto the Mengelean-like science known as human cloning, he simultaneously praised efforts in Congress to publicly fund embryonic stem cell research and was an investor in such research:

“The United States House of Representatives voted for a bill that was identical to what I proposed…They voted to provide for surplus embryos from in vitro fertilization processes to be used for research and experimentation. That’s what I have said I support. That’s what they have just supported.”-Mitt Romney, May 2005

Furthermore, Mitt’s signature health care program known lovingly as “RomneyCare” began mandating policies violating the pro-life stance of the Catholic and Protestant Churches in violation of their freedom of religion. (This Obamanation sounds oddly familiar.)

Now that ObamaCare has been shoved down our throats in a “package” eerily similar to RomneyCare (despite the denials), the best response Mitt could muster when Rick Santorum eloquently pinned him on the matter was to say:

“First of all, it’s not worth getting angry about…Everyone has a requirement to either buy insurance or pay the state for the cost of providing them free care.” – Mitt Romney (Conservative)

Huh? It’s ”not worth getting angry over?” “Pay the state for “free” health care?” Really, Mitt? Really, Ann?

The dull pencils in big government rewrite the Constitution and tells churches their rights are subject to the Feds (or the States), and the most profound thing your candidate of choice can say on the matter is that it’s not worth getting angry over? And defend it by admitting residents are forced to pay a fine for their “free” care. No wonder Romney insider Norm Coleman let Mitt’s cat out of the bag when he let it slip that ObamaCare would not actually be fully repealed. Why would it be?

Now if you still think Romney will be an ardently pro-life president (in more than just words), then consider these two little facts that have either been excused away by Ann, or slipped past her all together:

While other Republican candidates have signed the Susan B. Anthony list pro life pledge, Mitt refused to sign it. In fact, only Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have something in common in this regard, and considering Obama’s “demonic” passion for the abortion industry, the willingness of Romney to share in this snub is not comforting. Also, despite Mitt’s pro-life rhetoric, he seems to be specifically avoiding pro life rallies.

Note to Ann, Mitt, and anyone else (Ron Paul) that think this is a state’s right issue; just because the Constitution does not exclusively grant a power to the federal government DOES NOT mean it is exclusively granted to the state. Go dust off your copy and ponder the simple words “or to the people.” That phrase was a reminder that certain rights were granted solely to the individual, and government usurpation by the states was no less unconscionable and tyrannous to our founders than by the federal government (or a King.) Furthermore, lest you dismissively hint that the Constitution does not mention health care, said individual rights of self determination are not to be enumerated as they would thus limit future rights of the individual to that of the determination of the government.

“P.S. Ann. This man you left me for has shown a propensity for walking through society’s difficult political issues with two left feet, ever unsure of his next appropriate step. This is indicative of someone who is not absolutely sure of his own beliefs. I fear by November that one of those feet will be permanently inserted in his mouth and the other in yours. Until then, we only have his record and, of course, his words. His actions continue to hint at a lack of commitment to protecting life, leaving his words to appear instead as nothing more than sweet nothings.” – John Q

this blond bimbo should watch the video (blood:money mitt romneys) an then decide. he was coo of danon corp. when it was caught doing the largest medicare fraud ever at that time, and cop a plea that he didn't know anything illegal was going on. then sold the company for 12 million profit and put 473,000 thousand dollars in his pocket, if you want a liar and thief in the white house you've already got one

  2. I also am disillusioned with you Miss Coulter, but for a slightly different reason. You claim to be or have been a Constitutional expert, but I now believe that you are just as much a fraud as Obama, because if you really knew and believed in the Constitution, then why in heaven's name do you keep pushing to have Sen. Marco Rubio to be the GOP nominees running mate for V.P., or possibly to have him run for president in the future, when you should know full well that Mr. Rubio is NOT constitutionally eligible because he is NOT a "Natural Born" citizen.

Apparently, you, like so many on the left and some on the right who have no use for the Constitution. So dear Ann, either admit the truth that you do not believe in the Constitution, or just shut the h**l up.

    • Jacy says:

I agree. Ann, once a fan – not now. When you and the kool aide drinker, O'Reilly (who thinks he knows it all but evidently has not read the Constitution,) discussed Rubio as VP I shook my head. I was under the impression you had studied the Constituion. When you endorsed first Christy and then Romney; put down Sarah Palin, many of us have left in droves.

  3. Dover2 says:

I could NOT HAVE STATED it better. Thank You John Q.
I too was VERY surprised by Ms.Coulter's "conservative choice". I enjoyed reading your books, your letters in Human Events and listening to you taking a bite out of the hypocrites (both R & D) . You were GURR- ate. Sad to say I no longer feel the same. You lost a fan. I might be middle aged and my body is less perfect than 40 years ago, BUT, I have not gone senile!! I too wipe a tear from my eye at what you threw away and feel you slapped the faces of conservatives all around.

  4. This is my take on this, if Romney is what Conservatives stand for then I say it is time to have a new party that actually stands for conservative rights. I am sick of establishment choosing every election a candidate that we do not want and who are losing the election. Everyone is talking about important this coming election is and I agree, but I am not ok to support a man who has no principles, who is changing his position so he can profit from it, no way. If Republicans want to win the election then they have to attract independent voters and not betray the conservatives. For me personally if Romney is the guy I say f… this I will look for a third candidate. I am tired of someone telling me about my options, and if I do not like the options between Romney and Obama I will look for someone else. I strongly believe this is the perfect time for a new party; millions of Americans are tired of both parties and we need someone new and exciting with great ideas like Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul. I understand why Ron Paul has such a huge support among young people; they are tired of incompetent Government and empty promises.

    • I am with you. Perhaps we should push for a huge write-in campaign. All we have to do is settle on one candidate not supported or being pushed by MSM, then come election day, write that candidates name in.

      • Ronald says:

We MUST stop the party elites from picking our candidates for us. The fix is in Romney will campaign like McCain and will lose by a large percentage of the vote, because conservatives like me are tired of voting for the lesser of two evils, which is still evil. The only difference between obama and romney are their skin color and party affiliation. We need some one to slam on the brakes and turn the bus around, not reduce the speed toward the cliff from 100 mph to 60 mph. I have passed on every bit of info I have found on romney proving that he is obama lite, but no one will listen, pretty much like in 2008 about obama. No one would lieten and we wound up a socialist/marxist, that we are going to have to haul out of the White House at the point of a gun before this is over.

I'm tired of the BS from both parties, so I'm buying food, guns and ammo for when all hell breaks loose. And it is coming.

    • Ronald says:

The problem as I see it is that in Washington both parties are the same. They agree that one party will be president of 8 years and then the other party will be president. This will explain why the republicans put forth candidates like McCain and Romney, knowing that they are going to lose. The repub elites threaten conservatives by withholding support both monetary and moral, so we get liberals or so called moderates as candidates. Reagan was the last republican who was able to beat the party elites and was the last one to represent the people as president. The party elites were the ones who forced Bachman and Cain from the race. They can lie and cheat with the best of the democrats.

  5. we are loosers says:

This is most definitely another example of how we do not choose our presidents, they are chosen and then we get to act as if we approve of them by voting for the candidate that was chosen for us.

  6. Waiting says:

I used to care, I thought that by informing people I could make a difference and someday we would have true representative government but everything just keeps slipping away and those that are greasing the slope continue to do so with our own money or money that is produced out of thin air and leveraged against all the dollars that everyone has been toiling for. The money is used to buy opinions influence and favors for the connected insiders and the rest of us are left with the other end of the stick. The only thing left is to wait until the whole thing comes crashing down and be there then to put it back together and start over. Waiting for the day.

  7. Betsy K. Larsen says:

Well, you all may have valid points regarding Ann and her views. However, like her, I’ll take anyone, ANYTHING, other than this ABORTION THAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE SOME 50 YEARS AGO! I would vote for Micky Mouse, Bullwinkle the Moose, or even Cinderella if it meant getting rid of this flap eared, purple lipped, lying son of a cross eyed, knock kneed, misbegotten and brain dead camel who now infects every particle of our society, and every state, county, and thinking, or non thinking American citizen! I do despise the face of this insult, INSULT, that I would vote for ANYONE ELSE WHO WOULD AT LEAST GET THAT FACE OFF MY TELEVISION SCREEN AND OUT OF MY OWN FACE EVERYTIME THE “news” comes ON!!!!! I am so sick of his face, IT”S FACE, and sick of that BUBBLE BUTT BUCK TOOTHED HATE FILLED AND HATEFUL WIFE OF THIS THING THAT ANYONE WHO WOULD BEAT HIM IN NOVEMBER WOULD AT LEAST GIVE ME A REST FROM THOSE EARS! His lies and bullEXCREMENT have grown so irritating that it makes a speck in my eyes feel good! And everyone knows how speck of dust in the eyes can feel! This BOIL, INFECTION, DISEASE, IRRITANT, MU SLIME IN OFFICE HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT OF DISGUSTING AND REVOLTING THAT IF ANN CAN AT LAST SAY WHAT SHE HAS SAID, “ANYONE ELSE BUT OBAMA” as being acceptable, then so can I! I am not really fond of the idea of Mitt Romney for President, but if he can beat this freak of nature, abortion that by all rights, that should have taken place 50 years ago, then I will happily and gladly cast my valuable vote for him come November……….unless, UNLESS we can get our act together and do what we ought to do, go to Washington and PHYSICALLY REMOVE HIS ASS FROM OUR CAPITOL AND FROM THE UNITED STATES! Until then people, if we can’t do that, or, more to the point, WON”T DO THAT, from fear or cowardice, then at least get this ABORTION THAT DIDN”T HAPPEN OUT OF OFFICE! Maybe Ann feels as I do, what we have is the worst possible of all, and that we have to start somewhere first, and then go from there! Unite behind someone, or sit and gripe about what is, and lose the whole country by being deliberately obtuse and stubborn about it!!!

  8. AmericansRon2U says:

I think all conservative, constitutional Americans should rally together and write in Sheriff Joe Arpaio for POTUS. He's the only American in any legal capacity right now that still stands for the Constitution! He has been sued, intimidated, received death threats, etc. but he refuses to back down. Unlike the eunuchs in the GOP, he actually stands on his principles. Why should conservatives be forced to "hold their noses" when they vote? I, for one, will NOT vote for Romney. Romney will never defeat Obama because he IS Obama. He will kowtow to Obama just like McCain did and lose. This 2012 election is too critical to gamble on some poser conservative. We need the real deal. The people must rally to defeat both parties until they learn that "we the people" ARE the govt. We will no longer be silenced by DC morons who have trashed our Constitution!

Ann – as she has done for years and years…. hits the nail on the head in her support of Romney. It is amazing to hear all the fatuous fluff being offered up by everyone who now thinks she has lost her mind. I don't get it – except maybe for an underlying bigotry against Romney as a Mormon.
