While Barack Obama is the first president not to personally address or assign a top-tier representative to the Veterans of Foreign Wars‘ annual convention, not every organization has received the same shabby treatment as the military. White House spokesman Adam Abrams claimed Obama snubbed the VFW because he “receives many speaking requests throughout the year, but he is unable to meet them all.” Apparently, if you wish to receive a visit from the president or one of his top cabinet members, it helps to be dedicated to the interests of homosexuals, illegal immigrants, Muslims, or union bosses.

La Raza, Si! VFW, No!

Obama avoided those who protected our homeland, but he had no trouble speaking to those who invaded it. He spoke before the National Council of La Raza’s national convention in June. La Raza (“the Race”) is infamous for its support of open borders, drivers licenses for illegals, in-state tuition for non-citizens, and its undying hostility to border enforcement. Obama’s Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Cecilia Munoz, was vice president of La Raza and is now the administration’s top cheerleader for amnesty. Obama told NCLR that “the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting.” On August 18, Obama continued his strategy of ruling via executive fiat by announcing illegal immigrants would be deported based on “priority.” The new policy effectively granted amnesty to a wider swath of illegal aliens that those covered by the DREAM Act, which Congress has repeatedly voted down.

He had his bitter-half address the NAACP’s convention this year. The NAACP behaved itself better during the first lady’s speech than it did in 2006 when George W. Bush addressed the liberal organization. Five years ago, then-chairman Julian Bond raked Bush over the coals in his introductory speech, thundering, “Oppose we must!” Michelle’s visit repaid a character assassination well done.

Obama’s closest adviser, Valerie Jarrett, told the homosexual pressure group Human Rights Campaign that the president sent her to their most recent national convention “on his behalf.” The speech continued Obama’s (platonic) love affair with the LGBT lobby. He championed the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” before promptly forcing….

Summer is a time of strong memories. Memories of sunshine, lemonade, and bicycles flood our minds. Summertime is the season when our youth is so close we can almost reach out and touch it. This summer we have been extra reflective, the marriage of our first child and the contemplation of our parents mortality have only heightened our introspection. Because it is so integral to our lives, much of our analysis has focused on America and her changes.

Change is not always negative, but as we review the changes of the last decade, we are simply aghast at what has happened. It’s like comparing before and after snapshots of a person addicted to methamphetamines; the picture isn’t pretty. Hence, today we often feel like strangers in our homeland.

The social upheaval of the past decade has been beyond monumental, and it has resulted in a broken America, with a high number of dysfunctional and lost people. Like a colony of termites stealthily destroying the wooden beams of a house, liberalism has devastated the social fabric and consensus that made America the preeminent country in the world.

First, the rule of law is a fading memory. Obama and the radicals he has surrounded himself with in the White House think less about following the law than they do achieving political objectives. A liberal outcome is first and foremost on their minds, above America’s laws. Three examples are the treatment of GM bondholders, the ongoing war in Libya, and the Obama stealth amnesty for illegal aliens.

In the case of GM, the bondholders who had primary liens on the physical assets of General Motors were illegally striped of their legal rights in the Obama takeover of the company. Obama’s primary objective was to protect the United Auto Workers, a major contributor to his campaign. The UAW was essentially transferred the monies that should have been paid to bondholders in the reorganization. The stock the bondholders should have had went to the union in the form of shares for healthcare.

Next is the ongoing Obama war in Libya. The Obama administration has ignored the legal requirements of the War Powers Act. We never liked the War Powers Act or Gadhafi, but the act is still law, and Obama’s failure to follow either the U.S.Constitution or the statute in this crisis is a flagrant disregard for the rule of law.

Finally, Obama’s latest act, to use his power to overrule both immigration statues and court orders to suspend the deportation of illegal immigrants, amounts to the outrageous violation of the law.

If George W. Bush had been involved in any of these illegal acts, impeachment hearings would be in full swing with….

President Obama has nominated Princeton University Professor Alan Krueger to be chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisors. Saying he has “nothing but confidence in Alan as he takes on this important role,” Obama described Krueger as one of the nation’s leading economists.

Nonsense! Washington needs to stop listening to these allegedly high-minded academics who have helped get us into this fouled-up economy.

What should we think of someone who helped design “Cash for Clunkers”? Please! Enough with academics from Princeton, Harvard, the University of Chicago, and Yale who have never run a business nor created a single private sector job, It is long past time for us to put a business person in this post, someone who has actually created jobs.

This has got to stop. We must demand the president appoint no more liberal professors to top administration jobs….
